The Kanto Region is located in the meddle of the Japanese archipelago .  In this region is the national capital of Tokyo and the Kanto Plain , the largest plain in japan, The region consist of the seven prefectures of Tokyo , Kanagawa , Chiba , Saitama , Tochigi , Ibaragi , Gunma . Although the region occupies less than 10% of the total area of Japan , about one third or 40 million , of the national population lives here .
